Privacy Policy
Effective May 13, 2026
TL;DR
- We collect your email + name (when you sign in with Google), your saved trip + event reminders, and basic usage data (which pages you visit, which place links you click).
- We never sell your data. We use it to run the app — show you a personalized homepage, send your event reminders, and improve the product.
- You can delete your account anytime by emailing support@wildwoodlive.app.
1. Who we are
Wildwood Live is a hyperlocal app for Wildwood, NJ — boardwalk conditions, weather, events, places to eat, and trip planning. The app is operated by a single individual (the developer behind the site, contactable at support@wildwoodlive.app).
2. Information we collect
When you create an account
- Email address. Required to sign in.
- Display name + profile picture. If you sign in with Google, we receive your Google display name and profile picture.
When you use the app
- Page views. We log which pages you visit (path), referring page, device type, and coarse country (from IP). We do NOT store your IP address itself.
- Place clicks. When you click an outbound link to a restaurant or business, we log which place + click type (website, phone, directions, reservation) so we can show usage stats to that business.
- Event subscriptions. If you tap the bell on an event, we store the event title, time, and a unique unsubscribe token so we can email you a reminder.
- Trip itineraries. Your trip dates, interest preferences, and the AI-generated plan.
- Coupon reveals. When you slide to reveal a coupon code, we log the coupon ID + a 48-hour expiry so the code stays visible for you on return visits.
- Theme + tile preferences. Light/dark mode and the order of homepage tiles you've customized.
What we do NOT collect
- Your precise location (no GPS / no geolocation API calls).
- Your phone number or physical address.
- Payment information (we don't process payments yet).
- Contacts, photos, or anything else on your device.
3. How we use your information
- Run the app. Authenticate you, personalize your homepage tile order, surface your trip itinerary and saved event reminders.
- Send transactional email. Event reminders (1-2 hours before a show you subscribed to). We never send marketing email.
- Improve the product. Aggregate, anonymized usage stats tell us which categories / tiles / events are popular.
- Show businesses their performance. A business that lists in our directory can see anonymized click counts on their listing. We never share individual user identity with businesses.
4. Cookies and similar technology
We use a small number of first-party cookies:
- Authentication cookies. Set by our auth provider (Supabase) to keep you signed in.
- Session ID (
plankr_sid). A random anonymous ID used to correlate page views with place clicks during a single browsing session. - Theme cookie. Stores your light/dark mode preference so the next page load doesn't flash the wrong color.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies. We do not run Google Analytics or similar trackers.
5. Third parties
We process data through these service providers. Each one only sees the data it needs to do its job.
| Service | Used for | Data shared |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Auth, database, file storage | Account, all user-generated data |
| Vercel | Hosting | Connection metadata (IP for routing) |
| Sign-in (OAuth) | Email, name, profile picture (only when you sign in) | |
| Anthropic (Claude) | Webcam analysis + trip planning | Anonymized: weather, events, places — no user identity |
| Resend | Transactional email (event reminders) | Your email + event details for the message we send you |
| Open-Meteo / NOAA | Weather + tide data | None — we pull, they don't push |
| Mapbox | Traffic directions, jitney map | None — we pull, they don't push |
| ApiFlash | Cloud screenshot of public EarthCam page | None about you |
| Pollinations.ai | Event flair images | None about you |
| cron-job.org | Scheduled cron triggers | None about you |
Each service has its own privacy policy. We don't control how they handle data once it's in their system, but we choose providers with strong privacy records.
6. Data retention
- Account data. Kept until you delete your account.
- Page views + place clicks. Kept indefinitely for historical analytics. Anonymized at collection (no IP, no personally identifying info beyond user_id).
- Event subscriptions. Deleted after the event passes + 30 days, or when you unsubscribe.
- Trip itineraries. Kept until you delete your trip or your account.
- Coupon reveals. Kept indefinitely as redemption records for the merchant (anonymized to coupon_id + count after 90 days).
7. Your rights
- Access + export. Email support@wildwoodlive.app and we'll send a copy of everything we have on you.
- Delete your account. Same email. We delete all personally identifying data within 30 days; anonymized usage aggregates may remain.
- Stop receiving emails. Every reminder email has a one-click unsubscribe link. Or remove the bell in-app.
- Correct your data. Update your name + theme + tile order in the app. For other corrections, email us.
- California / EU / NJ-resident rights. If you live somewhere with extra privacy rights (CCPA, GDPR, NJ's data broker registry), those apply — email us and we'll honor them within the legal timeframe.
8. Children's data
Wildwood Live is a family-friendly tourism app, but accounts are intended for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has signed up, email us and we'll delete the account.
9. Security
We use HTTPS everywhere, store passwords as bcrypt hashes via Supabase Auth (we never see your password), and follow row-level security on every database table. No system is perfectly secure — if we discover a breach affecting you, we'll notify you by email within 72 hours.
10. International users
Wildwood Live is hosted in the United States. If you use the app from outside the US, your data is transferred to and processed here. By using the service you consent to that transfer.
11. Changes
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be announced in-app and via email to active users at least 30 days before they take effect.
12. Contact
Questions, requests, complaints — email us at support@wildwoodlive.app. We aim to respond within 5 business days.
